Through a panel discussion among industry veterans, Daein presented that, ”stranded offshore gas resource are a new global LNG Supply Source, with ~240 discovered but stranded (no exploration risk) offshore gas fields of 0.5~5 TCF each, totaling 325Tcf.”

Daein further outlined the key focus areas to collaborate and unlock stranded volumes to be:

  • Access to Balance Sheet – While large scale gas & LNG developments have traditionally been underpinned by sound balance sheets of resource owners, we can also have others such as LNG buyers, FPSO owner / operators and financiers with sound balance sheets underpin projects

  • Access to LNG Buyers – Noting that low cost projects are a given, Daein emphasised the need for project proponents to emphasise differentiators that would provide strategic rationale for LNG Buyers to select you project as that to commit as foundation buyer

  • Access to Molecules – While noting that capital commitments need tenure security to ensure investment recovery, Daein invited discussions to allow for competitive development proposals to be considered for gas resources that have been stranded for a very long time.
